Should I have a photo on my CV?
It is not common practice in the UK to have a photo on your CV.
Recruiters will often advise applicants to remove any CV photo. They will advise you to focus on presenting your experience, skills, training, qualifications, authorisations and achievements relevant to the job only.
HR department’s and agencies will often remove the photo before the CV is presented to the hiring Manager. Why is this? The main reason is to prevent the possibility of a discrimination claim. If there is no photo on your CV the employer cannot see if you are in one of the “protected classes” for example age, race, gender and disability.
